SARAH CANTRELL COOPER
Sarah Elizabeth Cantrell Cooper, 89, of Hendersonville, was gathered into her Lord's arms on Thursday evening, February 4, 2010, after a long illness. She was the eldest daughter of George Maney Cantrell and Minnebelle Williamson Cantrell of Number One and East Nashville, and the grand-daughter of William Edgar Cantrell and Georgia Hitchcock Cantrell, also of Number One.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husbands Henry Sisson Cooper of CA and Hendersonville, and Ardell Thomas of KY, Nashville and CA; sisters Edith Cantrell Nelson of Chattanooga and Annabelle Cantrell Murphy (George Murphy) of Inglewood; brother-in-law Ward Nelson; and son-in-law Clayton Witherow of Kernville, CA.
She is survived by daughters Rita Witherow of Kernville, CA, and J. R. Williamson-Sorrell (Allen Sorrell) of Hendersonville; grand-daughters Susan Taylor (Eric Miklasevics) of Minneapolis, MN, Stefanie Taylor Foster of Kernville, and Cynthia Williamson Garner (David Garner) of Niceville, FL; grandsons Robert Williamson (Dianne) of Bowling Green, KY, and Ardell Williamson (Audrey Hesketh) of Pleasant View, TN; great-grandchildren Benjamin Joseph Foster and Jason Marshall Foster of CA; Diana Grace Miklasevics of MN, Matthew Todd Williamson of Joelton, and Gabriel Linden Garner of FL; step-son Henry Sisson Cooper III (Kathy) of CA; nephews George Murphy Jr., Larry Nelson and Ronald Nelson; niece Becky Murphy Nickins (Steve); beloved Cantrell cousins; a host of beloved friends; and her brothers and sisters in Christ of Douglass Chapel UMC, Ocana, where Sarah served as a Trustee for several years.
Pallbearers will be "her boys": David Craig of Honduras and Nashville, David McNeil of Scotland and Hendersonville, Jordan Stephens of Burbank and Hendersonville, Brent Williamson of Gallatin, Robert Williamson of Bowling Green, and Ardell Williamson of Pleasant View.
Services to celebrate Sarah's life will be conducted by the Rev. Ron Wright of Douglass Chapel UMC and will be held Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Rehoboth UMC, Douglass Bend Road, Number One. Visitation with family and friends is at 1 p.m., with funeral at 2 p.m.; internment at Gallatin City Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the March of Dimes to prevent birth defects.
