Esther B. Shrum Stamps age 97 of Gallatin passed away Sunday February 7, 2010. Funeral service will be Thursday February 11th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Shrum and Brother Ricky Stamps officiating. Interment will follow in Bethpage Cemetery with Ron Stamps, Derrick Stamps, Joe Leath, Charles Leath, Henry Robertson, Ricky Stafford, Darin Lawery and Doug Crockett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the employees of the Stamps Stars and Stripes Restaurant and the American Legion Post #17. Visitation will begin on Wednesday February 10th at 12:00 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. and resume on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. and continue until funeral time. Mrs. Stamps was born in Sumner County, Tennessee, September 19, 1912 daughter of Solomon and Vinnie Isabell Hutchinson Shrum. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Charles Russell Stamps, one sister Ruby A. Shrum, two half-sisters; Ada Shrum Mince and Willie Shrum Templeton and son-in-law, Dr. Robert “Bob” Webster. Mrs. Stamps was a member of the Bethpage United Methodist Church, retired from GENESCO after 30 years of service and at 80 years old started and operated Stamps Stars and Stripes Restaurant until her death. She is survived by son Eugene Stamps and wife Judy of Gallatin, daughter, Charlene Stamps Webster of Gallatin, three grandchildren Ronald Stamps, Rita (Darin) Lowery, Ricky (Tammy) Stamps, step-grandchildren; Heather Calvert, Jessica Calvert, Rebecca Calvert and Carisco Dennis and two great grandchildren, Rebecca and Derrick Stamps. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving care givers; Tanglea Everett, Rita Brock, Savrina Sotver and Heather Calvert. The family request memorial donations be made to Sumner Hospice, 510 East Main Street, Gallatin, TN 37066 or Sumner County Veterans Home, 1105 South Water Avenue, Gallatin, TN 37066. What a fun sweet lady. We never walked in that she did not speak, and always told me my gray hair is so pretty.. She almost made me believe that. We will miss but will always pattern our lives to be more like her!!!

Edward and I will miss Granny very much.Our daughter has grown up with the restaurant being one of her favorite places. Granny cared very much for all her patrons, but especially the children. We will never forget that part of this lovely lady.
